Wild was the sea
spinning upward a wind
sending waves traveling
Lay down the trees over the road
All night the rain
sheet after sheet
Wide awake listening
She bends to break
Her wave and wake
She bends to break
Brave are the birds
first to emerge in the morning
Scattered debris
branches and leaves
Unearth the roots
World coming clean
Storm receding
Spending the day
clearing away the old familiar road
Up in the sky
Arcs of light
Bend bend and break
Stand in the wake
of a wave passing

In this album, Emily pushes the boundaries of folk music, by weaving in different instruments and synths, to a great result. The highlight of the album is easily the irrevocable masterpiece 'World Traveller' Alex Marshall
My heart melts for 'Back to the Woods', and I would have ended up buying the CD even if it was just that song on it's own. Throughout the whole album, the melodies are incredibly smooth and textured, while the background instruments intimately fuse with the autoharp in the best possible way. Alex Marshall

Drift away with these dreamlike songs from reclusive folk singer CARLENE, who pairs evocative lyrics with hushed arrangements. Bandcamp New & Notable May 8, 2023
Beautiful and original showcase of the Rashomon Effect through music. The emotional depth and musical range Hannah displays is truly incredible. Easily in my top 5 albums of 2016. Thank you Hannah for this beautiful record. T.J. Dwyer
